About Lanaudière

Lanaudière is gradually building an international reputation as an important destination, with its beautiful beaches and waterfalls, the richness of its theme museums, its internationally renowned classical music festival and the great diversity of year-round activities.

In spring, the region has the largest number of maple sugar shacks within easy reach of greater Montreal. These are mainly centred in Saint-Jacques, Saint-Alexis-de-Montcalm, Saint-Esprit and Sainte-Julienne. Spring is also a time when people are thinking about fishing, and Lanaudière is considered a great location for catching brook trout (also known as speckled trout).

In summer, there are many golf courses to choose from, as well as numerous trails and open spaces for hiking. Fall is the perfect time for taking walks in the countryside, for marvelling at the seasonal colours in the foothills of the mountains, or for duck shooting along the shores of the St. Lawrence. Winter brings an early abundance of snow in the north, creating a paradise for snowmobilers and winter sports enthusiasts.
